CMCFA Statement on Equity Ameliorative Initiatives

The CMCFA supports an institutional commitment to ameliorating the conditions of individuals or groups that are disadvantaged because they belong to the four designated groups under the Employment Equity Act or to other equity seeking groups. This support extends to the recent call for Vice-Principal Academic at RMC. This initiative is an important contribution to inclusivity in the RMC leadership.
The CMCFA also recognizes that such initiatives should be assessed and implemented in an open and transparent manner. Therefore, the association urges the administration of the Canadian Military Colleges to consult meaningfully with faculty and with the CMCFA on future initiatives as well as on the overarching strategy for achieving our shared goal of making the CMCs more equitable, diverse, and inclusive.
